building aerodynamics
We investigate all kinds of wind actions at buildings and structures. Static and dynamic wind pressure at the building surface, the wind comfort around the buildings, on terraces and balconies, the immission of exhaust air and waste gases as well as wind-induced noise. These actions can be investigated by wind tunnel tests where the effect of measures can be verified immediately.

Static and dynamic Wind Loads at Buildings
The static wind load is the temporal mean value of the wind pressure. It is overlapped by fluctuating parts of the wind pressure caused by turbulence and vortices generated by the structure. The dynamic reaction depends on the natural frequency of the structure. At high rise slender structures the dynamic reaction must be considered.
Wind-Induced Vibrations
There are gust-wind excited vibrations and vortex-induced vibrations. The gust wind vibration is caused by a single gust action and has the character of a single impulse. The vortex-induced vibration is caused by a regular exiting force induced by vortex shedding at the structure, e.g. at chimneys and antenna masts. Large vibration amplitudes are generated if the vortex frequency is in resonance with the natural frequency of the slender structure. This type of vibration is across the wind direction and is therefore named „cross-wind vibration“.
Recirculation and Waste-Gas Distribution
This type of action is related to recirculation of exhaust air and waste gases, e.g. by traffic, air conditioning or at cooling towers which can reduce the efficiency of the cooling tower.
Wind Comfort
The wind comfort indicates the well-being of people at sidewalks, parks, terraces and balconies influenced by the wind flow. Comfort criteria are used for the definition of the comfort classes at the site.
Reducing of Waste Gas Concentration, Emission and Immission.
By modification of structural details at the buildings, e.g. changing the position of the emission and sucking-in points of the air condition system, the immission concentration can be reduced or avoided. These modifications can be executed very reliable in a wind tunnel test.
